Breckenridge has described her relationship with her children as "beautiful"

Away from the cameras, Alexandra Breckenridge is a mom of two kids, son Jack and daughter Billie.

The My Secret Santa star, which premiered on Netflix on Dec. 3, married her husband, Casey Hooper, in September 2015. The following year, the actress and musician welcomed their first child together, son Jack, in September 2016. Breckenridge later gave birth to their second child, daughter Billie, in December 2017.

Speaking to PEOPLE in November 2017, she shared the joys of parenthood and her thoughts on expanding their family with Billie's arrival.

“When Jack was born, I experienced a kind of love I never had before,” she explained. “Some people say, ‘How could [you] possibly love two of them?’ but I’m not even worried about that. If I can love the first one this much, I’ll love the second one this much too!”

Rather than raising their children in Los Angeles, where Breckenridge's career is based, the couple opted to live in Georgia. She opened up about their decision with Atlanta magazine in January 2019.

“The rural areas of Georgia have an amazing sense of community we were lacking in L.A," she said. “We wanted our children to grow up in a place where they could play and ride their bikes that didn’t feel like a big city."

Breckenridge and Hooper welcomed their first child, son Jack Breckenridge Hooper, in September 2016.

The actress announced that she was expecting on Instagram in April 2016. She shared a mirror selfie, posing in a form-fitting dress that showcased her growing bump. In the caption, Breckenridge wrote, “Someone doesn't want to hide in his moms tummy anymore... 💖 thank you for all the kind words 💖Casey and I are very excited!!”

Before Jack was born, he received plenty of love from Breckenridge’s family and friends. For her baby shower in June 2016, she hosted a quilting party where each guest contributed one square that the actress could take home and make a full quilt.

Breckenridge told PEOPLE at the time, “It was so incredible to have all my favorite women come together to help make this adorable quilt for our son. I feel so lucky!”

The Virgin River star reflected on the birth of her son during an interview with PEOPLE in August 2017, explaining, “When I first held my baby, the world melted away and I knew he was the most important thing I’d ever do."

A few years later, she elaborated on the experience on The Kelly Clarkson Show. According to Breckenridge, she gave birth to Jack in only a few hours. The actress opted to do an all-natural water birth at a hospital, and he was a "big baby," weighing in at 9 lbs.

When he was around 1 year old, the SAG Award winner described her son as “a pistol” to PEOPLE in November 2017, adding that she could “barely keep up with him.”

Six years later, Breckenridge opened up about a health scare Jack had and how it helped her with a major plot line in season 5 of Virgin River. While preparing for her character to experience a miscarriage, she pulled on her own experience with Jack.

“One of my children was very, very sick when he was young and could have died so I have a personal connection and understanding of the emotional loss of a child,” she explained to Deadline in November 2023. “When you’re a parent, and you come so close to that edge of not having them anymore, I already experienced that in a different way, so I came into that scene reliving that experience.”

Now, Breckenridge occasionally shares photos of Jack. On National Sons Day in 2020, the actress posted a photo of herself and Jack on Instagram and wrote in the caption, "My first born. Jack. Apple of my eye. Tried to put together a video of this little child, but there was just way too much good stuff."

Breckenridge and Hooper welcomed their second child, daughter Billie Breckenridge Hooper, on Dec. 6, 2017.

The actress shared that she was expecting another child, less than a year after the birth of her son, in August 2017. “We made another one!! Baby Breckenridge Hooper coming this winter," she wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.

Shortly before Billie's birth, Breckenridge spoke to PEOPLE about when she and her husband learned the sex of their second baby.

“I found out I was having a girl on my birthday,” she said. “My doctor called, and I said, ‘This is the best birthday present ever!’ I really wanted to have a girl.”

Breckenridge was pregnant with Billie during the second season of This Is Us. In September 2017, she shared with PEOPLE about shooting around her bump, explaining, "We're still filming, and they have tricks and different clothes to hide stuff, and you can stand behind a counter and frame halfway up.”

"It hasn't been too bad,” she added. "They can also digitize it out these days!"

Speaking to host Kelly Clarkson on her show in March 2021, Breckenridge shared that she decided to get an epidural for the birth, and it was "magical."

About a month after welcoming Billie, the This Is Us cast won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a drama series in January 2018, and Breckenridge celebrated with her newborn.

She shared a sweet photo on Instagram after the event with her then 6-week-old daughter, writing in the caption, “Home to my tiny princess.”

Breckenridge later told Numéro Netherlands magazine that when she attended the special event, she wasn't anticipating getting up onstage.

"I actually didn't know that I would be receiving an award. I thought I was just there to support the cast who had been nominated," she said in December 2024. "About halfway through the dinner, I started leaking milk and had to go into the medical tent so I could pump before they announced our category. When they handed me the statue, and I signed for it, I was in total shock."

Since then, Breckenridge has mentioned Billie during other appearances, including when she was on The Sackhoff Show in January 2025. The actress shared that she has a "beautiful relationship" with her daughter.
