Three years later, the couple renewed their vows

Brooklyn alleged in a series of Instagram Stories in January 2026 that his parents attempted to "ruin" his relationship with Nicola before their nuptials

On April 9, 2022, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham got married in an extravagant, celebrity-filled ceremony. But nearly four years after the couple's wedding, Brooklyn claimed that his parents, Victoria and David Beckham, attempted to ruin their big day.

“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped," he wrote in an emotional statement on his Instagram Stories on Jan. 19, adding that rumors Nicola controls him are "completely backwards."

He went on to detail some of the alleged incidents that occurred at his nuptials, including the evening before their wedding, when he claimed that multiple family members told him Nicola was "not blood" and "not family." He also alleged that his parents tried to bribe him to sign away his name rights and that Victoria inappropriately disrupted a wedding dance and backed out of designing Nicola’s dress.

While rumors of a family rift have circulated since May 2025, David and Victoria have not publicly addressed Brooklyn’s specific allegations. Here's everything to know about Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz's wedding, including the alleged drama surrounding it.

In his January 2026 post, Brooklyn alleged that Victoria and David had made multiple attempts to sabotage his relationship with Nicola. “My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one," he wrote, claiming that his mom had repeatedly invited women from his romantic past to events in an effort to make them both uncomfortable.

David and Victoria's eldest son — they're also parents to Romeo, Cruz and Harper — also said that his family refused to see him when they traveled to London for the former soccer star's 50th birthday unless Nicola stayed home. Brooklyn said that setting boundaries with his relatives has only resulted in "endless attacks" from his parents and brothers, who he claimed blocked him on social media "out of nowhere" in the summer of 2025.

Tensions only grew higher in the weeks leading up to the big day, with Victoria allegedly calling Brooklyn "evil" for placing his Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at their table. He also claimed his parents "repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe" him into signing away his name rights.

"They were adamant on me signing before the wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated," he added. "My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since."

The couple held their multi-day wedding ceremony and reception at Nicola's family estate in Palm Beach, Fla. Nearly 600 guests — including the Beckhams, the bride's billionaire father Nelson Peltz and her seven siblings and celebrities like Mel C, Serena and Venus Williams and Eva Longoria — gathered for a traditional Jewish ceremony beneath a floral-adorned chuppah, followed by an elegant black-tie reception on the oceanfront lawn, per British Vogue.

Brooklyn's sister, Harper, served as the flower girl, and a source told PEOPLE that David "spoke about Brooklyn being born, their family life and how great of a mom Victoria is" during his speech. The couple shared their first dance to "Only Fools Rush in," which was performed by South African artist Lloyiso.

Though many expected Nicola to wear a Victoria Beckham original down the aisle, the bride ended up wearing a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown. British Vogue reported that Nicola's mother, model Claudia Heffner, added an evil eye talisman to her daughter's wedding dress, along with a message stitched in blue.

Nicola told Variety in August 2022 that she had planned to wear a piece designed by her future mother-in-law, but the timing just didn't work out.

"I was going to [wear Victoria Beckham] and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn't do it, so then I had to pick another dress," the actress said, noting that she believed this is where the rumors of their alleged feud began. "She didn't say you can't wear it; I didn't say I didn't want to wear it."

Brooklyn later claimed in his 2026 statement that his mom "cancelled making Nicola's dress in the eleventh hour, forcing her to urgently find a new dress."

Victoria caused a stir when she wore one of her own designs to the wedding — a silver, silky slip dress with floral appliqué details at the top.

She shared more details of the gown on Instagram, writing alongside a photo in which the dress appeared to be almost white, "A special dress for a special day ... Wearing one of my favourite pieces from the new collection at the chicest wedding for the chicest couple!"

Seven months later, Victoria announced that limited quantities of the dress were now for sale.

"An evolution of my signature fit slip dress and inspired by the Studio 54 era, this very special and delicate gown is inspired by the reflection of the moonlight on the ocean at night, and was developed using the finest metallic yarn from my favourite mill in Como, Italy," she wrote of the gown on Instagram.

The eldest Beckham son also alleged that his mother interrupted a planned dance between him and Nicola during their 2022 wedding. According to his account, Brooklyn was called to the stage by Marc Anthony, who was to serenade the newlyweds with a "romantic love song."

"My mum was waiting to dance with me instead," he wrote on his Instagram Stories. "She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life."

In May 2025, a source recalled the incident to PEOPLE, saying that after Brooklyn stepped onstage, Anthony announced, "The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up ... Victoria Beckham!"

"It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock — you could hear a pin drop," another source said, adding that the slow dance between Victoria and Brooklyn was inappropriate and that Nicola ran from the room in tears.

However, another source who attended the wedding described the moment as far less dramatic. “Later on, when things were more casual, Marc Anthony performed and got people dancing,” the source said. “Brooklyn and Victoria danced, David and Harper danced, and everyone had a great time.”

In December 2022, Nelson filed a lawsuit against two of the couple's wedding planners, Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba. The billionaire investor alleged he didn't receive his $159,000 deposit back after the planners were fired following nine days of work. He also claimed that the wedding planners took "advantage" of the Peltz family by misrepresenting their experience and expertise.

Braghin and Grijalba filed a countersuit, citing breach of contract. They claimed that Claudia was hiding wedding costs from Nelson and asked them to keep the financials a secret.

"It is believed that Nelson Peltz paid more than $100,000 plus travel expenses for Nicola's hair and makeup services for the wedding," the suit read. "Claudia mentioned to [one of the planners] that Nelson could not know the cost of the hair and makeup, or he would 'kill her, and be so mad.' "

The wedding planners also claimed that Nicola and her mother "insisted" that Victoria "could not know about any internal mistakes made" regarding the guest list. Both suits were settled in September 2023.

Only three years after their wedding, the couple renewed their vows in August 2025. Brooklyn said in his social media statement that the decision was partly based on what had happened at their wedding.

"We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment," he wrote.

Victoria and David have yet to respond to the accusations Brooklyn made on his Instagram Stories. However, David briefly discussed his children's social media use during an appearance on CNBC's Squawk Box the following day.

The former soccer star said that he tried to educate his kids on the power and danger of social media, but that it hasn't stopped them from making "mistakes."

“They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes," David continued. "That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids. You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well."
