Meghan Markle has faced her fair share of public condemnation, and her critics seem to have found a new way to tear into her.
Recently, a 2016 interview before a live audience, filmed shortly after her relationship with Harry was made public, appears to have caught up with Meghan Markle. A decade ago, Meghan was promoting her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig - named after the premium red wine Tignanello - when she emphasized that selling candles for more than $100 would contradict her "affordable for all" philosophy.
Speaking at the Create & Cultivate conference in Atlanta in October 2016, she explained, "There are no $100 candles on my site - that's so obnoxious.

"I just want things on there that you can have. And I want people who understand that ethos. I've always crafted it [The Tig] as 'aspirational girl next door', like, you can aspire for it but totally attain it too."
However, in recent years, Meghan has been peddling jams and flower sprinkles on her "As Ever" website, and, as it turns out, she sells scented candles too.

Beyond her $12 jars of strawberry and raspberry spread, Meghan is now promoting her luxury candles, which might be out of reach for many people, reports the Express.
Her individual-scented candles start at $64 each. "Signature Candle No.519" is fragranced with Moroccan mint, cardamom, and tea leaves. Meanwhile, "No.604" emits notes of amber, water lily, and santal (or sandalwood), and "No.506" carries hints of ginger, neroli, and cashmere.
Shoppers can also pick up "The Cozy Duo" - two candles and some matches for $128, or "The Garden Duo" at the same price point.

For just $256, customers can also purchase her "Signature Scent Collection" of four candles and a box of matches. That's precisely four times $64, so fans don't even get any discount for the candles, unless you count the "free" matches.
Furthermore, Meghan claims her candles and scents have been inspired by Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as well as her 2018 wedding.
However, some critics have pointed to her past remarks about pricey candles, noting, "Ironically, she is now selling candles on her website for more than $100. This is how your own words can come back to bite."
Another then penned, "This is so on brand for her," as a third critic added, "I'd gladly buy them from Princess Catherine."
But many also defended Meghan, pointing out that the candles come in a ceramic vessel, as opposed to glass, and is cheaper than other top brands like Jo Malone.
"The 2016 clip criticized $100+ candle as 'obnoxious' in a different economic climate, but today's single-candle price is lower than that threshold at $64, market conditions and Inflation since 2016 have raised prices across consumer goods," one fan said.
"Jo Malone of London sells a $540 candle. " You people really need to STFU because you sound stupid talking about Meghan's mere $64 candle," fumed a second fan, while a third asserted, "The price is very reasonable compared to other quality candles." They're not meant to be cheap chain store candles."
