*Heated Rivalry* is getting the musical treatment — kind of.

The hit gay hockey romance show is receiving an unauthorized off-Broadway musical parody this spring, appropriately titled *Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody*.

Ilya Rozanov, the Russian New York Admirals player portrayed by Connor Storrie in the Crave series, will be played by Jay Armstrong Johnson, who has previously appeared in Broadway productions of *Parade*, *Hair*, *Catch Me If You Can*, and *The Phantom of the Opera*. He also headlined the U.S. tour of *Moulin Rouge*.

Shane Hollander, the Montreal Metros captain played by Hudson Williams on the show, will be portrayed by Jimin Moon, who has acted in Broadway shows like *Sunset Boulevard*, *Aladdin*, and* Lempicka*.

Other actors appearing in the production include Ryann Redmond, who will portray a character named Susan; Cherry Torres, who will portray Shane's mother; and Ryan Duncan, who will appear as Ilya's father.

The book, music, lyrics, and orchestrations were all written by Dylan MarcAurele, who has previously composed parody musicals for *M3GAN* and *The Real Housewives of New York City*. Alan Kliffer will direct and produce the show.

"Behind every great love story is a dump truck ass," a tagline for the musical says.

'Heated Rivalry' creator gives major update on season 2

The official description of the musical indicates that it will lean into *Heated Rivalry*'s steamy side.

"Inspired by the hit show about hockey, *Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody* follows starry-eyed golden boy Shane Hollander on his journey from power center to power bottom," the description says. "Relive all of the moments from the show that made you wet (with tears) up close on the small-stage by an incredible cast of Broadway actors who thought they were auditioning to be in Season 2."

The press release for the musical promises "a bop-infused score, scene-stealing cameos by characters like 'Rose Landry' and 'Ilya's Ass', and time jumps absolutely no one can keep track of."

Performances of the show will begin on Tuesday, May 12 at the 6th Floor Theater before the official opening night on Tuesday, May 26. The musical is scheduled to run for eight weeks only.
