The *Live With Kelly and Mark* host engaged in a titillating conversation with husband Mark Consuelos on Wednesday's edition of the beloved talk show, with the star admitting that her oral retainer sometimes dissuades her husband's advances in the bedroom.

Consuelos kicked off the live telecast by bringing up a talking point about koalas, who "don't mind rejection," he said, citing a study. "They just leave and go off to sleep," he continued.**

"When they're mating, the koala goes in there and says, 'Hey, I'm mister koala, nice to meet you, miss koala. Sometimes they're not interested," Consuelos explained. "Instead of being heartbroken, they go back to sleep" when rejected.

"It's like you," Ripa said, turning toward her husband as she laughed, while Consuelos explained, "I come to bed with my little eucalyptus leaf, and I'm like, 'Hey, you want to fool around? No? Okay.'"

Ripa added, "I pop my retainer in. He hears the retainer pop in, it's like a chastity belt!"

In addition to koalas, the subject of animal sex has long been a hot topic on *Live*, with the pair also recently breaking down the mysteries of snail mating rituals on the March 24 episode. "Who's the top?" Ripa asked at the time, inquiring about the awkward positioning of snails in the act.

The couple then segued into another spicy memory of their early days as a couple in New York City, shortly after Consuelos joined his future wife on the cast of *All My Children* ahead of their marriage in 1996.

Consuelos and Ripa recounted the former's apartment in Manhattan, which sat just below another tenant who worked as a phone sex operator, with the actor remembering her pacing back and forth above his bedroom from midnight through to 4 a.m., which often kept him awake.

"She'd be like, 'You've been a very dirty boy!'" Ripa said of what she heard coming from the room above.

When the couple eventually went upstairs to ask her to stop making noise that late at night, Ripa said the woman made a dig at Ripa's expense, telling her, "That's interesting, you're not the girl that used to live here!"

Ripa and Consuelos would go on to get married in Las Vegas in a secret ceremony they initially hid from colleagues on *All My Children. *They* *eventually had three children together — Michael, Lola, and Joaquin — all of whom they regularly discuss on *Live*.
