Warning: Mindy Kaling's newest TV series is NSFW — as in, Not Suitable for Work.
The new Hulu comedy Not Suitable for Work is created and executive produced by Kaling, following "five work-obsessed 20-somethings" as they try to juggle their professional and personal lives "in Manhattan's most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill," according to the series description.
"There's drama in this. There's so much romance, but it's really about five ambitious young people," Kaling said during a May 2026 appearance on Good Morning America. "And I consider like in my mind, this is the third show in a trilogy of shows that are about my life — Never Have I Ever was about me being in high school, Sex Lives of College Girls was about my time at Dartmouth."
Meanwhile, Not Suitable for Work follows the "last pivotal time in my youth, which was moving to New York City, being super ambitious," she continued.
Judging from the series trailer, the new generation of New Yorkers — which includes a cast of Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, Jack Martin, Nicholas Duvernay and Jay Ellis — will learn that making it in Manhattan is harder than it seems.

Not Suitable for Work — starring Hunt, Avantika, Angus, Martin and Ellis — premiered on June 2.
Ellis was previously a part of one of Kaling's other shows, Running Point, and the comedy creator said he was "such a dream to work with."
"It's great to work with one of the best-looking people in the world and be like, 'Oh, you're cool and nice,' " she told PEOPLE in an interview published in December 2025. "So I adore working with him."

The Not Suitable for Work creator and executive producer also teased that Ellis plays a love interest and will "surprise" people with his performance.
Victor Garber, Greg Germann, Judy Gold, Ego Nwodim, Harry Richardson, Constance Wu, Laura Bell Bundy, May Hong, Bhavesh Patel, Emilia Suárez and Michael Benjamin Washington will also appear in Not Suitable for Work in recurring guest roles.

The first season of Not Suitable for Work has nine episodes.
Not Suitable for Work is set in N.Y.C., and it was also filmed there.
"We feel so lucky to shoot in New York City because it's like a built-in character in itself," Duvernay said on Good Morning America. "You're out there, you're amongst the New Yorkers. Some of them are nicer than others ... New York has a such a a great way of immersing you into its surroundings, and it really just helped, play the part."
