Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks talks about his workload, progress at OTAs
For the first time in his NFL career, Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks has been able to fully participate in organized team activities. And so far, it's been so good.
Brooks chatted with reporters following Tuesday's practice, and was asked about his biggest takeaway from these early sessions.
"I can just see how far we can go as a team," Brooks replied. "In the locker room, you can go in and see how close-knitted guys are. Offense, defense, special teams—everybody's just close together.
"And then we go out on the field and work hard. You can see everybody competing. It comes from a spot of love, but also a spot of competitiveness."
The 22-year-old has had to stay competitive through a rough first two seasons in the league. Thanks to a pair of ACL tears—one from college and the second from just his third game in the pros—Brooks has been limited to 23 snaps since he was selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

After being sidelined for the entirety of the 2025 campaign, Brooks has hit the ground running this offseason. He's received praise out of many corners of that locker room—including from head coach Dave Canales, offensive coordinator Brad Idzik and right guard Robert Hunt.
To keep his recovery on track, the Panthers gave Brooks a rest this afternoon. Nevertheless, he's been able to handle quite a bit of work thus far—and was later asked if his ability to do so has surprised him.
"No, I mean, because that roots back in my faith, and I know that God is ultimately take control over everything that I do," he stated, "I'm behind the scenes doing a lot of work to make sure that I can be able to handle that workload. And I'm just doing my part—listening to the training staff, listen to the coaches and follow their plan for me and it's been good."
