Paradise fans are likely wondering whether the new drama will return to Hulu following the first season’s immense success. The finale episode alone garnered 6.3 million viewers on the streaming platform, and the show’s first season just aired weekly on ABC. With this kind of reception, can we expect another season of Paradise? The answer is a resounding yes.

Here’s everything we know about what’s to expect next season.

Has Paradise been renewed for season 2?

On February 20, 2025, the show’s official Instagram account announced that the series was renewed with a video featuring its star, Sterling K. Brown. In the brief clip, Brown responds to a comment saying that one season is “not enough.” Seems like he agrees:

What will season 2 of Paradise be about?

The first season followed Brown’s character, Secret Service Agent Xavier Collins. The political thriller created by Dan Fogelman is set after an apocalyptic event that sent survivors to live in an underground bunker the size of a city. Collins is tasked with protecting President Cal Bradford (James Marsden), before Bradford’s murder upsets not only Collins’s life, but also the seemingly perfect community as a whole. As he hunts for the perpetrator, his detective work uncovers more and more secrets that destroy the image of the world he knows.

On July 22, Brown teased the plot for season 2. “Xavier’s out in the world,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “He’s looking for his wife, trying to find her. Is she alive? Is she not alive? Will he find her? Will he not find her? We see how people have been surviving that didn’t have the means and the planning that the people inside the bunker did. They’ve made a way. It doesn’t look as organized, obviously, but it is a way. We meet people who are benign. We meet people who are nefarious.”

He also shared that there will be two distinct parts of the story. “The season is divvied up between Xavier's exploration of what is outside and what continues to happen inside after the melee that transpired with Sinatra and Jane.”

Who is in the Paradise season 2 cast?

Along with Brown as Agent Xavier Collins, Paradise season 1 introduced James Marsden as President Bradford. They’re joined by Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Aliyah Mastin, and Percy Daggs IV.

Fogelman is also the creator of This Is Us, the origin of one of Brown’s biggest roles. The actor said this year on Late Night with Seth Meyers that Fogelman asked him to star in Paradise back in 2022.

“I’ve read 106 scripts of his, loved every one. This was 107, and I loved that one, too,” the Brown said. “He said, ‘If you like it, let me know.’ I called him back and I said, ‘I'm in.’”

As for new additions, Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies, Divergent) is set to join the cast. She’ll reportedly play a “major recurring role” as a “prominent survivor” tied to Agent Xavier’s mission in the season 1 finale, Deadline reports. When asked about what it was like to work with Woodley, Brown called her a “friend.”

“It’s always great when you hire wonderful people that are good at what they do, but when you actually make a friend that’s even cooler,” he shared. “She’s sweet, honest, open, ready to play, and very professional. I expected all of those things of her. But to have met her and to have played with her in the sandbox, it was everything and more. She’s outstanding.”

Thomas Doherty (Tell Me Lies) is also reportedly joining the season 2 cast as a “major recurring character,” Deadline reports. He’s said to play Link, “the leader of a biker gang,” who is tied to Xavier’s arc which kicks off in the season 1 finale. He has the potential of sticking around if the show is renewed for a third season, according to the outlet. Hulu has yet to comment.

Michael McGrady (The Perfect Couple) and Timothy Omundson (Psych) are also joining the season 2 cast as recurring characters with arcs tied to Agent Xavier Collins, Deadline reports.

According to Variety, Ryan Michelle Bathé (who is also Brown’s wife) will join season 2 as a guest star. Her character and storyline have not yet been revealed.

And though Marsden died in season 1, Brown shared that we’ll still get to see him in flashback scenes. “We see a little bit more of Marsden,” he told EW. “We get a chance to see him in different time periods. So it’s nice. It’s really cool.”

Patrick Fischler (American Fiction, Mad Men) is also joining the season 2 cast in a “key guest-starring role,” according to Deadline. While his exact character details haven’t been revealed yet, the outlet reports that Fischler is set to play “a brilliant professor trying to balance his work with a quietly challenging personal life.”

Has production started on Paradise season 2?

An official timeline was not announced, but on March 4, Fogelman responded to a fan on X, formerly Twitter, about production plans.

“Please don’t wait two years to give us season 2 of Paradise @hulu,” the concerned viewer wrote.

On April 21, the official Paradise account revealed that production had begun, and that Woodley is officially part of the season 2 cast. She and Brown shower each other with compliments in the playful video.

Can I see a teaser?

On July 22, EW published exclusive first look images of season 2, where you can get a sneak peek at Woodley and Doherty in character.

On July 26, during a San Diego Comic-Con panel, the show shared a sneak peak from the new season featuring Woodley, according to Deadline. The clip is the opening to an episode showing Woodley working at Graceland before the disaster that wiped out so much of humanity. She then gets word of the tsunami and ends up in a bunker on the property.

The actress also made an appearance at the panel after her clip aired.
