Pink ‘really excited and very nervous’ to host the 2026 Tony Awards: ‘That girl is a tough crowd!’

The Tony Awards are ready to get their party started for the program's 79th annual celebration.

On Thursday, CBS and Tony Award Productions announced that Pink will serve as host for this year's June 7th ceremony. Pink follows a trend of musical talents who've hosted previous ceremonies, including recent hosts Cynthia Erivo and Ariana DeBose.

"It is the honor of an entire lifetime to host a night celebrating the literal hardest working people in showbiz," Pink shared in a statement. "Broadway has shaped my life and how I put my own shows together—it is a community that is supportive, and inclusive, and full of talent and love. These people give magic every single day, and I cannot wait to celebrate them with the entire world."

The singer, whose full name is Alecia Moore, added, "When I was asked to host the Tonys, I immediately thought, 'I have to get permission from my daughter.' I’ve never been on Broadway, and shouldn’t you have to have been on Broadway in order to host? That seems fair and right. But when I asked my daughter, she was really excited about being able to have a ticket to go to the Tonys, so I’m hosting the Tonys and I’m really, really excited and very nervous because that girl is a tough crowd!"

Though, as Pink noted, Broadway is not among her resume entries, she is a three-time Grammy winner whose success transcends the realm of music. Pink has used her fame not only to entertain but champion humanitarian causes such as Human Rights Campaign, Save the Children, and Black Lives Matter.

The music star, who is known for incorporating aerial stunts into her concerts, recently shared on New Years Day how she was recovering from neck surgery. In a message shared with fans, Pink said she was "leaving behind all of my hurt in 2025."

While high-intensity stunts might not be required of the future Tony Awards host, her iconic stage presence will surely energize the audience as well as the night's winners.****Nominations for this year's awards will be announced on May 5.**
