Russell Brand has been granted bail after being charged with two additional counts of sexual assault in December. **

The* Get Him to the Greek* actor, 50, made a video appearance in Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday afternoon, the BBC reports. Brand reportedly only stated his name and date of birth in the six-minute-long hearing. **

In December, Brand was charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault connected to two separate alleged incidents involving two women that occurred in 2009, the outlet reported, citing court documents. He is next scheduled to appear in Southwark Crown Court on Feb. 17.

Brand's lawyer, Oliver Schneider-Sikorsky, did not immediately respond to **’s request for comment.

The latest charges come eight months after Brand pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault related to multiple alleged incidents involving four women between 1995 and 2005. A trial for those charges is scheduled to begin on June 16 at Southwark Crown Court. **

"The women who have made reports, including those connected to the two new charges, continue to receive support from specially trained officers," Metropolitan Police Service Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi said in a December statement. "The Met’s investigation remains ongoing, and detectives urge anyone affected by this case, or anyone with information, to come forward and speak with police."

Detectives first began investigating Brand in September 2023 following a joint investigation by *The U.K. Times, The Sunday Times*, and U.K. network Channel 4's television series, *Dispatches. *Prior to the release of their report, Brand published a YouTube video in which he denied all of the claims against him.

"These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies. And as I've written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous," he said at the time. "Now during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that then — almost too transparent — and I'm being transparent about it now as well."

Brand — who also starred in films like *Arthur* and *Forgetting Sarah Marshall* — is no stranger to courting controversy. However, these days, he is best known for his YouTube channel, where he has been accused of pushing various conspiracy theories.

Last December, he made an appearance at conservative youth organization Turning Point USA's AmericaFest in Phoenix.
