Sean Hayes is recalling his first interaction with Drew Barrymore — and what happened after
In an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Hayes said the two were young actors when they saw one another at a party

Drew Barrymore and Sean Hayes are recounting the first time they met — and the odd moment that ensued shortly after.
As the 55-year-old Will & Grace alum recounted on the Wednesday, Dec. 3 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the two first met when they were in their 20s.
"So, in 1998, I did a movie that was at the Sundance Film Festival called Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss," Hayes told Barrymore, 50. "As soon as I came back, I was auditioning — and it was before Will & Grace — and I saw you at a party and you're like, 'Oh my God, I have to go to the bathroom!'"

Hayes continued: "I'm like, 'I do, too!' We both went in the bathroom and peed in front of each other. You don't remember that?"
Barrymore, did not recall the alleged encounter, saying, "Um, I sort… no. But I remember that setting and that time. I loved that movie."
"You were 22 years old, and I was 26 years old," Hayes added.

Elsewhere in the episode, Hayes explained that he first found success as an actor when he started auditioning for commercials — saying he planned to "fall back on" piano-playing if he couldn't support himself with acting.
"I was like 23, 24 years old and I'm like, 'If I'm gonna do it now, I can always have [piano] to fall back on when I come to Chicago,'" he said, adding: "I'd never been to Los Angeles. I just drove out with a friend. Got an apartment with somebody I knew in Chicago, and there it is. And then got that movie I mentioned and then got Will & Grace."
Born into a famous acting family, Barrymore began acting even earlier — getting her first starring role at the age of 7 in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
The actress would go on to struggle with addiction issues and in February 1991, emancipated herself at the age of 14.
In April 1990, she told the L.A. Times that after going to rehabilitation programs, she had slowed her lifestyle down significantly and become sober, saying, “I don’t do that stuff anymore ... I don’t go around it,. Through sobriety I’ve found another life, a better life. But it hasn’t been easy.”
