Jumanji is turning 30!
The iconic film, based on the 1981 children's book by Chris Van Allsburg, which stars Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt and Kirsten Dunst, premiered worldwide on Dec. 15, 1995. Needless to say, Jumanji was a blockbuster and still has staying power in 2025.
It totally makes sense that Jumanji came out during Sagittarius season. The game is enchanting and mesmerizing, as well as full of twists and turns that make it an enjoyable experience. Sagittarius is a sign that is known for its thrill-seeking sense of excitement and wanderlust, which Jumanji offers. Once you roll the dice, you never know what's going to come next, a perfect sentiment for the archer who likes to live dangerously on the edge of their seat.
As we celebrate the film's 30th anniversary, it's worth noting that we are currently in a Sagittarius stellium, with the Sun, Mercury and Venus all in the Fire sign. Now we can have discussions about how great the plots and acting were — especially that of the late Robin Williams.
Jumanji was such a hit at the box office that it inspired several sequels: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), with a third on the way.

Read below to find out which player you are.
Aries: Russel Van Pelt
Prime
Russel Van Pelt (Jonathan Hyde).
Russel Van Pelt will do anything to win his ongoing rivalry with Alan, allowing him to step out of Jumanji into the real world and squaring off in public. Aries will never quit and won't stop until they attain their goals, even if it means destroying a community in their quest. Their fierce nature makes them determined, like Van Pelt.
Taurus: Carol Parrish
Prime
Patricia Clarkson as Carol Parish.
Carol is Alan's sophisticated mother, who is understanding and tries to relate to her son. Venus rules Taurus, so the Earth sign has a sympathetic heart and tenderness to them, reserved for their loved ones. Carol may be a baller and upper crust, but all of her riches do not compare to the way she feels about her only child.
Gemini: Judy Shepherd
Prime
Kirsten Dunst as Judy Shepherd.
At times, Judy can spin the truth and tell tales due to the trauma she recently experienced. Geminis have a tendency to speak of fables to protect themselves or to make their lives seem more fulfilling. Still, like the Mercurial sign, Judy begins to learn that being honest is the key to having successful relationships with others and with themselves.
Cancer: Martha and Jim Shepherd
Prime
Annabel Kershaw and Malcolm Stewart as Martha and Jim Shepherd.
Martha and Jim are the parents of Judy and Peter. Their presence at the end of the film is very warming and sentimental, as they are both Cancers; their characters are portrayed as exceptional parents, highlighting the nurturing aspects of the Water sign. They appear to put family first and will do anything to improve the lives of their children.
Leo: Sam Parrish
Prime
Jonathan Hyde as Sam Parrish.
Leos are known for their ability to lead and fight for others. Sam owns the shoe factory in town, which employs many locals. His popularity aligns him with the Fire sign. Primarily, his desire for success and his genuine emotions for his son which are shown when he goes missing and sacrifices it all.
Virgo: Aunt Nora
Prime
Bebe Neuwirth as Aunt Nora.
Aunt Nora, who is a relative of Judy and Peter and their guardian, wants everything to be perfect in their new home, like a caretaking Virgo would; however, that doesn't play out the way she hopes once the children start playing the board game. Her attempts for an idyllic New England life bring everyone to meet their destiny and fate.
Libra: Alan Parrish
Prime
Robin Williams as Alan Parrish.
The only character who gets an astrology check is Alan. In the film, Sarah says, “Ignore him, he's a Libra!” It's safe to say that Alan exhibits qualities of a relationship-oriented Libra because he wants to connect with his parents and Sarah, both as a child and an adult, in the movie. Alan is a romantic at heart.
Scorpio: Peter Shepherd
Prime
Bradley Pierce as Peter Shepherd.
When the audience first meets Peter, he has a lot of emotions brewing beneath the surface (after all, the loss of his parents is devastating), to the point where he refuses to communicate with his family (his aunt and sister). Scorpios are known for their brooding and intense sensibilities, which Peter inhibits and exudes, as well as their deep loyalty.
Sagittarius: Jumanji
Prime
Jumanji.
The game deserves its own shout-out. Jumanji is a total Sagittarius because it's filled with adventure, plot twists, and unforeseen events once one rolls the dice. Chance is the core theme of Jumanji, and anyone who knows a Sagittarius is aware that they get a thrill out of betting and taking risks. Therefore, the two are completely in sync.
Capricorn: Mrs. Thomas
Prime
Gillian Barber as Mrs. Thomas.
As the real estate broker is in the small New England town, Mrs. Thomas will do anything to make a deal happen; similarly to Capricorn, she's all business. However, she does leave out a few facts about the house to make a sale, which allows her character to connect with the shadow and lesser-seen side of the sea goat.
Aquarius: Carl Bentley
Prime
David Alan Grier as Carl Bentley.
Before Carl became a police officer, he was a hip shoe designer who worked in the factory in town. Carl’s charismatic and innovative ideas were transformative, which is in line with Aquarius's forward-thinking ideology. He may have missed out on his big break, but he still has a unique sensibility and mindset, similar to the way the Air sign thinks.
Pisces: Sarah Whittle
Prime
Bonnie Hunt as Sarah Whittle.
Young Sarah witnessed Alan being sucked into the game, making her doubt her reality for years to come. In her adult life, she's a psychic in town, guided by her intuition, which stems from her visionary and imaginative childhood. Pisces can relate to having others doubt their version of truth, which is why Sarah is the ultimate enigmatic Water sign.
